So sum it all up, it was a magnificient day yesterday. One of the best I've ever had. I graduated. I have a bunch of notes from my closest friends. I prepared for Prom with my bestest friends. I went to Prom with my bestest friends. I survived four inch heels for 5 hours of standing + sitting. My best friend was a Prom Queen contender. I won Best Dressed. I won Best Dressed with Zhen Cong. I ate a whole bunch of delicious meat (Yeah, I hate Vegatables). What more can I ask? To clear up the doubts, yes, the skirt part of my outfit is handmade. My godmum used to be a seamstress and she still has that excellent sewing skills. My sister came up with the idea last week and we began on that ever since. The skirt was originally an F21 camisole. the camisole was then cut right below the armpits horizontally and sewed in the prevent it from rolling out or in. We needed a base for the tulle material to complete the skirt, otherwise the tule had to be sewn to my top which isn't long enough. The sequined top was from F21, nothing was done to it. I wore it as it was. My sister bought the tulle material at Chinatown. Yeah I know, SURPRISE! Where else do you buy cloth, really. The tulle material was poofed out by yours truly and her sister. My godmum did the sewing on and the skirt is fragile as hell. I was so afraid my huge thighs might tear it apart. Did I mention that shoes are underrated? I mean, excuse me, I look taller. My heels are four inches with platform. I love them. They are painful, but they have the most comfortable cushioning ever. I was walking like a duck at the end of the Prom. What's more I need to keep climbing on stage for the photo taking. I had only one concern that night, that I must not fall. It's so embarrassing to do so. When Sam was onstage doing her catwalk, I told Ying Hui to scream while I prayed for her not to fall on her knees. Friends back you up like that. There was A LOT of photo taking. If any soon-to-be Prom-goers need to know. I think I look like Jessie J with my hair, Selena Gomez with my dress, and Katy Perry with all my confidence. I love how my arms would look fat in photos, my legs would look huge in full body shots and my fringe would move in the most unflattering way in close-ups but I still won because I rocked all of them. Where is that photo of me and Zhen Cong acting sexy? I need it for my next Facebook profile picture! Labels: im obsessed with prom, my DIY, prom 2011 |
