  Orientation Camp
Posted Friday, April 20, 2012 // 9:48 am
I hate the word "Freshies"
I finally am done with the freshman orientation camp. I've always hate camp and this will be of no exception, even though I love my group mates and group leaders. I just really don't like the activities lined up.

I was in Phoenix subgroup 10, aka the very last group, and all of us in it were girls. So we always refer to ourselves as the bimbo group. But that is mainly refered to by our leaders, who are ever more of bimbotic girls. They were so nice and cute.

I really really liked my group and my leaders, which is surprising because I always end up cursing the facilitator. There was this facilitator guy in my tribe (he was not in charge of my group or anything) and it was the very first day and probably just two hours into the day. He came up to us and said, "We are trying our best to make you feel at ease but if you don't want to appreciate it, you won't enjoy the camp." And I was really so dafuq because I hardly even know his name and what we are doing and everything is new and I just got lectured. My group leaders next to me was like, "What's wrong with him, they are strangers at this point right?" And I laughed out loud.

I guess that's when I decided to embrace this camp no matter how crappy it is because of my group leaders.

Considering the amount of time we had in the four days as a group, I find my sub-tribe very much bonded. Maybe it's because we are all girls, we just stick together. I won't say we clicked but I felt very comfortable with them. Had a very fun time sitting with Jie Ning on the bus back to the MRT station, and there's Atasha who was just easy going.

Had to wake up at like seven each day, so that sucked.

Oh, okay I have to write this no matter how racist/annoying/whiny I may sound. So I was sitting with my course mates, and I looked around, about 80% of the girls have bangs. I swear, most of them are from China. I never felt more out of place by just sitting about my seat.

So I went the other direction and made friends with the girls without bangs. And yup, all of those I've approached are Singaporeans. Not that I don't want to be friends with foreign talents. Don't get me wrong. Just that, when you are with the people from your course and you don't know anyone, you would notice that those who are of the same citizenship or speak the same native language stick together faster than you can even open your mouth to introduce yourself. So, I got to know those who are still sitting quietly by themselves cause I do that too and that means those people are definitely Singaporeans.

I honestly didn't like the sandcastle thingy, 50% because I hate ECP, another half because the organisers were mean and just unpleasant. Though I am glad everybody helped out and we did a rather fantastic job as a team. But the rest of it was just very bad. The person in charge of the sandcastle team was so stuck-up and righteous about everything he is doing and we are all too young to understand shit. Well, he should be able to take suggestions, god dammit.

The running games was tiring and sheer torture. I did get to know some people but the games kind of failed in getting us to bond. Word.

I really liked my industrial visit. Especially since I get to watch a free movie AND meet up with the cast and crew of Timeless Love. Also known as Dasmond Koh's directorial debut.

I won't elaborate much about the movie for those who plan on watching it but I'll have to say that Aloysius Pang looks A WHOLE LOT like Shawn Lee. I think the only way to distinguish them is that Aloysius's eyes are a little bigger. Dasmond Koh has really good skin too.

Even though I did hate Wednesday's event, the portfolio building was useful. I might just have to use those tips if my application for the scholarship gets approved. Fingers crossed.

My thighs have these disgusting rashes. Must be the dirt from running and squating and kneeling on the grounds of NP. Geez, this sucks.
