Con understatement
I suppose a lot of my posts start with, "I woke up with my _______ sore from _________". I am kicking that habit by telling you exactly what I did and stop writing a whole monologue about it.Sports and Wellness this week had me doing A LOT of squats and sweating an entire waterfall off my face. You know how it is so rare and tough to have balls of sweats literally dripping off your face due to its capacity. I was doing the plank on the ground of 30 seconds twice and when I stood up, I saw about 12 drips of water slowly forming into a puddle of water. I reached my maximum in half an hour. And that explains the soreness from the thighs and my abdominal area. I am not kidding about the workout. It was intense. Though really, really useful. But I guess that's the quality I get for getting the professional trainer who actually does fitness training for $120/hr, it just works. Let's stop being physical for one moment. I was editing my resume earlier this week for my first assignment for Written Communication for English, and I realised that I am pretty impressive. I have suitable and certified qualifications and abilities that is perfect for the real world that I am dying to enter. I was taken aback by the things I used to do that I did "for fun" or "anyhow" and how it impacted the quality of the resume. I had been doing plays since 9 years old; did a bunch of presentations in Primary schools that are in the format of a news clipping to important people in the MOE; entered a debating competition in Primary 6 and won; lead in the Secondary school musical; Vice-President of Drama Club; Gold in SYF; Actual theatre company camp participant; Performing Art Medallion; did a lot of crew work that is just perfect for my future career though I used to just volunteer cause I wanted to draw people's face. That is a lot to put on a resume so I started listing only after I entered Secondary school. But anyway, that is a lot of exposure mind you. And it is really useful in many, many ways. And let's not talk about educational achievements. Yes, it might not be a lot but I am not stupid to have none at all. I'm just above average but I still accumulate a good number of stuff. I did find a lot of stupid, funny certificates I used to have, like the Reading Award whereby I read a 100 books in a year. Ridiculous. It's like "WOW, congrats you read." Arh, they give anything to an 8 year old. I learnt how to make patterns with Photoshop this week and I was having so much fun. I love designing. I really do. I remember before wanting to do something with showbiz (which was probably in Secondary 1) I wanted to be a graphic designer. That dream transferred to my sister I guess. And now I just want to be a producer. Or maybe a director. But designing, I still love it. It is my hobby, I enjoy making lines meet to produce an incredible image. I don't think I would want to be a designer though, cause my creative juices don't always flow in a consistent manner. It goes like, "I should write today about _______", then to "I want to draw that ad in the magazine ________" and after that to "Maybe I should path this ________ out". It varies from print ad, to sketch, to writing, to production ideas, to anything my brain suddenly felt like it can do. I have no control. And now I am blogging. See how that happens. But I get bored easily so I am off to create something else now. Labels: i like designing, my dreams, poly |
