I just remembered that I forgot to post about the Christmas parties
For the last week of December I went overseas, attended 2.5 parties (the half was a simply NY countdown) and attended a wedding. So I should really cover these events to prove that I have an actual life outside my overly focused-on studies and constant updates on movies you guys probably never heard about. John is peeping at my post now cause I'm trying to start on my post early.Anyway. 24-12-12: Family Christmas party You know what is ironic? I have 4 aunts and 2 uncles and only one of their families is actually Christian. Half of them are buddhists, and the other half are fake buddhists. I mean fake like they pretend they have a religion so they can accompany my grandmother to the temple and pray to absolutely nothing. I say that only because I remember asking them about the different gods but they can't answer even the simplest few. But anyway, I was invited to feast on a Thanksgiving meal. Mashed potatoes, roasted turkeys, honey baked ham... I even had apple crumble pie for dessert which was really fancy. Which was weird cause I felt like I'm in an American family which is totally not what my family usually have for dinner. Even during birthday celebration for anyone in the family, it is always in a Chinese restaurant. However, I'm not complaining cause I eventually have my presents for Christmas, which is the only thing I like about the entire thing. Here's a theory though, the disappointing feeling after realising what your present is happens from 14 years old onwards. This year, I received two soft toy, and I'm 17. I do like them, don't get me wrong, they are furry and soft, but I have a lot lying on my GODMUM'S bed, not mine, my bed is hella tiny. So not only I have extras now to accompany my godmum's dream, I have extras to take up her sleeping space like how it took mine up. Give me money, I'm too cynical to appreciate actual gifts anymore. 26-12-12: Friends Christmas party One thing about celebrating such occasions with your friends is the absence of awkward talks about where you are studying and what you are studying and how old you are and everything about the course you are studying as if you don't know. Friends tend to have a better memory about who you are and what you like, which makes it more appropriate and suitable cause then you will be eating everything and watching whatever there is on the teevee. What sucks is the lack of Christmas present, cause we all know how much we make (which is zilch) so nobody complains. I wore a very inappropriate top with pretty much the maximum amount of cleavage I would ever show, which is 1/3 only. I just realised that is too much information. But you know, I don't wear that in front of my family cause they are less aware of what their words can do to teenagers. They don't know what is slut-shaming, don't know what is homophobia, don't know what is pop culture. Might as well, steer clear. All I've been doing is comparing Friends versus Family which isn't very fair. Oh well. 27-12-12 to 30-12-12: Malaysia trip Malaysia things are so much cheaper than Singapore. But while shopping in the country this time, I realise that their designs are so Primary 6, either that or 35-year-old OL. Shopper lucks is highly needed. I practically combed the entire departmental store to look for age-appropriate apparels which fits my budget. That is like RM2. No just kidding. I got my new spectacles, which from what other people feed-backed was exactly the same as before. I NEED TO SAY IT IS NOT. It is brown and the humiliating green hook is gone. It is black + grey. Moreover my lens are less thick though I have worse eyes. Sigh... That doesn't help. I really need lasik surgery to get rid of the weight on my nose. There is no party during my Malaysia trip and it is practically the same as my previous post about the almost similar trip, so I should skip to my next party without alcohol or drugs. 30-12-12: Wedding The wedding was for my eldest uncle's son. The playlist had only 3 songs and it was on fucking repeat for 3 hours. And my heels was killing the hell out of me. The only good is the food. Which was really good for a country club. Me and my sister was holding on through the awkwardness cause my godmum and cousins of the same generation were sitting so far apart from each other that my feet screams in pain each time I take a move. I found it hard to interact at all so I just held my own with my sister throughout. I went home with a heavy heart after succumbing to my defeat to high heels. 31-12-12: New Year's Eve Countdown Highlight of the day: Tay Ping Hui's singing. |
