Random sightseeing on the bus
Posted Monday, March 11, 2013 // 5:20 pm
A little boy fell asleep on the bus, his head on his mother's bag. The bag had this jumbled-up black shawl on top where the head meets the bag. It served enough purpose to provide comfort and safety from the potential fearsome zip marks on the little boy's forehead. The mother was looking down at the boy, her short hair blocked any access for strangers to see her complete facial features. But her hair was not long enough to hide the faint smile she wore on her face as she gazed upon her sleeping child. Her right arm served itself as a seat belt on the rocky bus, and it remained stagnant before the boy's waist throughout the ride. She had been moving her left arm constantly but never her right arm. She was so still that you could practically feel the soreness now present in her right arm. The bus slowed down its pace as it reached a prominent stop. The mother moved herself cautiously and tapped the boy's cheek to wake him up from his slumber. She whispered something inaudible to anyone other than her son, but it was probably, "Wake up, sweetheart. Here we are." The boy slowly regained consciousness to his surroundings. As he yawned, I could see, there was no zip mark on his forehead. Then they alighted, his small hand in hers.
