  My first Starbucks
Posted Friday, December 14, 2012 // 11:15 pm
I don't actually drink coffee
Believe it or not, I don't drink coffee. Not even when it is overseas and I have those free coffee packs lying about the cup corners. I usually just take the home and give them to my godmum who is a coffee drinker.

Don't get me wrong, I love the smell of coffee, it's heavenly. And I do love some Sara Lee Coffee pound cake. But I just don't like the TASTE of coffee. It is bitter and I can literally feel the caffeine taking over me. I just really don't appreciate its presence in my digestive system.

Nevertheless, I went for the Starbucks' 1-for-1 Xmas drink on the Twelve day of December because I am just the most cheapskate person you can come across in your life. I wouldn't even pay full price for food now. It's a sickness, I know.

Anyway, I went to Coronation Plaza that day after the last day of school (Cause, you know, I am having my break now) and got myself my first ever Starbucks.

But before I get to that, I ought to share my horrid experience.

Okay, so I was walking toward the Starbucks outlet, and this massive group of lower secondary Hwa Chong boys was behind me. I knew, obviously, they were heading to get the same thing as I am, cause it just doesn't make sense for 14 year old boys to go to NTUC in a group. Anyway, so as I was nearing the outlet, the massive herd broke into two parts, one was the chiongers, the other was the whiners. Not weeners, whiners.

In an unnaturally auntie manner, the chiongers ran past me to storm into Starbucks only to end up in the queue anyway cause there is another three more people getting their boost of caffeine. The whiners eventually settled behind me and throughout the entire ten minutes of waiting and service, the shortest boy complained non-stop about EVERYTHING in Starbucks.

He began with the queue, then the speed of the service, then the price, then the lack of flavours for the promotion that rooted from the price, then the lack of cake selection in the shelves, then the price of the cheesecake in Starbucks, then the price of every cheesecake in the world, then back to the service, then after he has been served he continue the speed of production, then about some gaming thing that his friends are into, then the production speed again, then about another friend who did not hear his plea for straws.

Seriously, he just wouldn't stop. And he kept complaining like that because HE NEVER EVEN BEEN TO STARBUCKS BEFORE. He kept going like the world was in debt to him and his continuous need for attention. I was baffled at how absolutely whiny he was and how much more of a cheapskate he was than me.

But it wasn't just him that ruined my experience. His friends kept hogging spaces despite being fully aware that the outlet in Coronation Plaza isn't all that spacious. I could hardly move and had to yell at them to scoot over just so I can get out of there.

Teens these days are FUCKING selfish, aren't they?

So that was my rant, back to my first ever coffee drink.

I ordered a Cranberry White Chocolate Frappuccino DECAF, because you know why. It is really sweet, almost too sweet and I would really discard it if it wasn't that the sweetness overpowered the hint of caffeine and also because it cause four bucks after calculation. I was disappointed cause I could hardly taste the white chocolate and I love white chocolate. So yeah, I was pretty upset over that.

I still stand by the fact that Starbucks is overpriced. But I actually am less opposed to it after Keh Jun became their barista, cause he educated me about coffee knowledge and I like having such useless informations lingering about my brains. I mean, who knows, I can strike up a conversation with some big shot next time I go to a coffee shop.

But we all know life could be so kind.

  Work hazards

Burned to a light shade of purple
Being in front of an oven has left my face dryer than ever, yet oily at the same time. I think I would have the worst skin of all times after these two weeks. I tell myself with clenched fists everyday that it will just be another few more days. Figure right now is 10. I am so close to a single digit.

I burn myself pretty frequently during work. It fucking hurts. And my fingernails are of the oddest colour right now. It's purple further inwards and skin colour at the tip. Talk about having ombre nails. For me it just effortlessly appear with pain and sufferings.

Okay more stories about my work.

This time about a customer. Yes I've had a psycho customer. It was this grandmother who wasn't very old along with her daughter and grandson. She came into the shop and asked if we sell bread. When all you can see is egg tarts and canned drinks. My face was plastered with a smile even though I really am laughing at her in my head.

She went ahead to sit at the seats provided without ordering anything and discussed where they can go to get lunch when it is already two and I've already told them that there are food court just across the road. I think motherhood does make people less motivated to leave anywhere.

That shall me one of my proven laws.

Anyway, the grandmother eventually bought an egg tart, but it was after countless complaints of treats that are too sweet though she never tried any of our things before. And after she was done with her tart, her daughter contemplated to have one too and she just went ahead to judge the rest of the flavours. By the way, she picked the apple cinnamon one which in my opinion is a tad sweet than most of the flavours. So I really just wanted her to leave.

But NO, she had to bring her grandson who was starting to make A LOT of noise BEHIND the counter to where I was to show him the action of me wiping the tart moulds. Really bitch, really? First of all, behind the counters is KNOWINGLY off-limits. Second of all, what benefits can he have seeing me wipe the cups? Is he able to help me? Is it that interesting of me to wipe noisy metal cups that he has to shout plus cry right next to my ear?

There's an imaginary line, don't cross it.

Okay now on to the mental chronicles of my boss.

Here's the deal about my boss. She speaks English but it's the poor kind that you obviously know that she being to learn in her mid-twenties/thirties so her texts are often a little weird. For the first few days, she pronounced my name perfectly fine, but lately it evolved to "Ah-li-sia-ah". 3 syllables to 4. When she started off fine. I guess she kind of know that the way she pronounced it got odder and odder, either that or she caught me rolling my eyes whenever she says my name wrongly, she asked me to correct her and that scared the shit out of me.

Turns out she just wanted to ask if I wanted to take the damaged goods home since it's either that or throw away. Thank god for free food.

She still criticise everything I do and I just rolled my eyes secretly whenever. But I try to cut down on it cause when I do, I might spill the batter thing or the toppings fall off or I burn myself. That would result in further reprimanding. So yea.

But you know what peeps? 10 more days. 10 more days to freedom.

  The weather is really hot
Posted Friday, May 06, 2011 // 6:54 pm
And really humid
I'm sorry, but the weather is really too much to take an exam. I can concentrate when I feel my sweat dripping down the side of my cheek. Really, the school is of the hottest spot in Singapore or something.

My hair ain't helping either.
The humanities papers are killers. Oh my gosh, I did the wrong question for Lit, but thankfully Si Jing's on the same boat as me. We're going down, I'm no alone! :D But either way, I'm gonna fail. I hardly recognise anything from the poem but I know I would never know how to write prose, since my poem is already such a disaster. Hopefully I can pass the essay, the unseen, suck it.

I feel so stupid for studying Iraq-Kuwait and eventually doing only Governance. I was planning not to do it if Healthcare were to come out. So I did selective reading. Read on Governance, Traffic, Population, Iraq-Kuwait, and the Singapore part of Bonding Singapore, not ever NI/SL. And thankfully because of my lack of knowledge to Gulf War and social cohesion, I did the easiest amongst the three.

Me being me, my speedy handwriting secured enough time to finish everything. I was left with two more paragraph when Ms Tan announced that there's only 15 minutes left. I was mentally going, "More than enough". -grin-

Finished it like a boss.

But when I went through my essay, mother of god... Let's just say English isn't my forte, and cursive handwriting's not helping either.

But anyhow, no such word but love to use it, my Combined Science paper was okay, some tough questions here and there but I'm not as lost as I were during EOY last year. By the way, I was mean to Ms Tan.
MT: (writes "Combine Science")
A: Ms Tan! There's a "d". Combined!
MT: Oh whoops. (adds the "d")
I am just so picky on a language I'm not even good at. :D

And I am so weird. Every humanities subject needs like 6 pieces of paper. Yet I took 8. Eventually, I used only four. I know, laugh at me. Whatever. But 8's a lucky number okay?

Before the math paper, I was busy kaopeing Hafiz. Boy, it's good to have him around. Life is so much more colourful. I kept making fun of his stamina, his gift in math, and much more. I love him so much.

Oh and so am I doing the same for Gan, thankfully Boon is constantly on my side whenever I do anything to Gan. That fully challenged boy.

The maths paper is just idiotic. I tried inferencing for the pico thing and I actually took my inference seriously. Listen to this.
(This is exactly what went through my brains during the math exams)
Pico... PI-co... Let's try pi, ENG... 10 to the power of zero, great... What can pico stand for? Picasso? Ponyo? Argh, just write a cute number, let's see... 3, no, 4! Okay, then 4.
I have no idea why, I think my brain was fried or something.

And I had been reading. For these two weeks at least. I should really read more. I like book. I found some favourite authors but not much of favourite stories. I should continue my search.

Since Combined Science (Chemistry) finished earlier than Pure Science, I walked out of the class screaming, in my head, duh, "ADIOS BITCHES!" Before heading down to study some quotes and memorise it into my brain.

Honestly, I am beginning to love The Chrysalids. Uncle Axel is such a wise old man. I especially love the quote, "I know what you're up against, Davie, but funking it isn't the way out" and "If you run away from a thing just because you don't like it, you don't like what you find either." They just speaks sense to me. And I was a little skeptical when I started reading the book cause of the small font size and everything but aw, it angers me whenever David's not safe. And that's a good thing. I think.

I like how disorganised this post is. Deal with it bitches.

  So cheated
Posted Sunday, February 06, 2011 // 1:40 pm
Messy hair
I got cheated yesterday cause there was no sight of any flea in Scape. So pissed off. Thank goodness I was with Clarissa. Or else it would be SO awkward.

It must be destined that she had to go to Icing Room to make her cake for her cousin.

I bought this skirt from Forever 21. First time I've ever bought something more than $10 from there.

It's so pretty. I was all, I have to buy this shit.

And I also bought a million earrings from Cineleisure. Argh, every girl just has to have a pair of superstar hoop earrings. One pair is only for 90 cents.

I wanted my prom dress to be like low cut, kinda like the below. It think it's super unique. It's not the typical V, not the boring off-shoulder, or the ever-elegant toga. But Clarissa told me it's too sexy for prom. What our school is thinking, I will never know.

There was this couple who refused to take a polaroid for us yesterday and we kept cursing them. Like, "couple nia, also not Valentine's yet". \m/ We rock like that. And they were waiting for Best Fries Forever like us and were being such total bitches. Karma's gonna bite them.

Clarissa's Elmo Cake is so cute. Gawd. The cream and sugar is so yummy. But so fattening! >:)

I am so happy. Scape has GongCha too! And I was the fifth customer yesterday. But the guy was being a law by law freak and demanded my receipt so he can poke through to check accounts later or something. Bitch.

Best part about this photo is that my nose looks fake and her boobs looks fake. So hilarious. And we wanted the Katy Perry standee behind to be visible but the glass reflected the trees instead and there was only the silhouette of the standee. Whoops. It's such a cute photo. :D

I love you Clarissa. (Y)

We went to buy water in Fairprice Finest and compared so many prices. Gawd. Different places really sells different prices. 7 Eleven is SO overpriced. I wanted Vitamin Water but hey, 65 cents for 2 or $1.65 for 1?

Auntie-ness unites.
